El crack de la bolsa de Nueva York de Octubre de 1929 fue el inicio de la mayor recesión económica que el sistema capitalista ha vivido en toda su historia.
El hundimiento del mayor mercado de valores del mundo arrastró a la ruina a miles de inversores, dando paso a la gran depresión de los años 30, que no sólo afectó a la economía mundial sino que tuvo importantes consecuencias políticas, sociales e ideológicas.
